On holiday at Les Cinq Châteaux campsite in the Dordogne, all roads lead to the must-see sites that make this département such an internationally renowned destination. From prehistoric caves at medieval castles enhanced by a grandiose natural setting, the Valley is bathed by the River Dordogne the lungs of a region with many assets.

A LAND WITH 400,000 YEARS OF HISTORY
The Black Perigord extends over a "Golden Triangle bounded by the Valleys of the Vézère and Dordogne. Let's start with Vézère Valley, considered to be the cradle of human presence in Europe. Les Cinq Châteaux campsite is a good base for exploring this historic valley.
For some fifty kilometres, the Vézère valley brings together some of the richest and most famous prehistoric sites, including the famous Lascaux caves which have helped to bring the Périgord region to the attention of the whole world. In total, no fewer than 15 prehistoric sites in the Vézère Valley have been classified by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites!
